The inspiration for “The Sandman” comes from a personal place where I lost all motivation and I found myself sleeping for days on end. “I wish I could live in my dream,” is what I would say to myself as I woke up. The main character of the film – Amelia – is inspired by this personal experience. Amelia struggles to find happiness in her everyday life, yet finds bliss within her dreams in an unexpected way. This story is a modern take of a period piece, following Amelia’s character progression as a young woman, rediscovering her purpose in life. I hope this project will empathize with those who have familiar experiences, and provide comfort to the viewer.
